WEATHER, WEATHER, WEATHER!
Weather, weather, weather.
You can't have it all and we certainly didn't last weekend for the Savin's family shoot.
Our plans for a glorious shoot in Epping Forest with sunshine pouring through the canopy were abruptly halted by the falling wet stuff from the sky.
INSERT PIC OF FOREST IN RAIN
Not to be beaten, we managed to persuade (cough cough) the children to move some of the furniture around in the living room and make use of the wonderfully large window filling the area with light.
Having used some of their excess of energies on moving a large sofa the children had a great time pulling faces at the camera in between firing off some really nice group shots of them all leaning over the back of the sofa.
INSERT COLOUR SHOT
These shots were eventually given a slight desaturated, contrasty look which brought out some lovely 70's style tones. Converted to black and white, these were the best shots of the day for me as they captured the fun and energy of all the children.
INSERT FAVE BW SHOT
Time for lunch for the Savin's so despite a small storm growling at me through my stomach wall I ventured out into the rainy forest to search for some suitable covered areas to shoot.
It wasn't easy! Finding a sheltered area of ground and a tree that wasn't completely soaked for a seating prop as well as some light to shoot in, took a little while!
Eventually, I came across this.
INSERT TREE PIC
A perfect natural seating area for the children (as had previously been reliable informed by the adult Savin's of the juniors climbing abilities!), some light and reasonably dry.
We managed some nice fun group shots of the children, although light was an issue. The size of the tree also then became a little bit of an issue as those in the tree, were quite a way from the ground, so perspective came into play!
INSERT GROUP TREE PIX
We then moved on to another area that provided some more light for the adult group shots, but the brief of "something fun, non-traditional" just wasn't happening with no props, space or good light to use. So, back to the tree, but this time it was me who did the climbing.
INSERT PIC OF ME UP TREE
With the light falling down, a different view was needed. The view down from the tree offered some beautiful tones in the fallen leaves and an opportunity to throw the flash over a wide area with less of a dark background contrast.
The larger available framed area also then provided for some more creative compositions, although with the rain still falling and light going we still had to move quickly.
And so,we finally nailed ourself two family group shots.
INSERT TWO GROUP SHOTS
Lastly, but not least. A cute gosling, ahhhh.
